Well boys and girls did you feel it?

I was updating the forum as it happened and DID NOT feel anything strange. I have made mention about the loud booms that I hear and feel that makes the house shake, but nothing like that here in the Heart of Chicago.

It was a 4.5 on the richter scale, focused southwest of Chicago.

Hang on...it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

When did this happen. Was it last night. If it was I was dead to the world around 10:30 as I wasnt feeling good. Hope everything is ok by you.

I just heard on the Weather Channel about the Earthquake this morning. It happened in Ottawa. I guess Bill felt it here. My back was hurting real bad so I went to bed early.

Thats the second one here in Ill that I know of.

All well here, nothing happened. Did not hear nor feel anything. I remember the one of the 80's. I was in a meeting at my district station at the time, but when I came home, my Dad filled me in on what happened.

He said that the hanging plants swung a bit and a slight rattle of the dishes. And that was that.

I'm still dumbfounded on the large booms I hear, mostly after 12:00 midnight, that shake the house, rattle dishes and makes the dog bark. I can't be the only one that hears this. I think it's still sonic booms from high flying aircraft. Or the Deep Tunnel Project.

Hi Fellow Star and Space Lovers!
Met a few of you at the Cernin Soace Center Sat. night.
It was a pleasure and I thank you for your generosity with that FABULOUS self designed and created CANNON of a telescope. I am still in awe of the moons face and I must say that seeing it has replaced the sense of saddness I carried since learning in an Astronomy class in college that we always see the same side of it. Now I think ok so it's like looking on a loved ones face...it is the same and yet always different. Always a source of interest and love. The rings of Saturn, the moons and stripes on Jupiter... are forever a part of my soul and when I think that life is mundane...well those views blow that lie straight to the endless skies...
There truly is little mundane about this world we inhabit... it's all in the willingness to be humbled and thrilled by the intricate creativity of it all.
AND and EARTHQUAKE too!!! It is all a nudge that just when we think we have all the routine...
AHA! No we don't!
It was a joy to meet you and sharing the common bonds of "OH MY GOD" and "WHOA...LOOK AT THAT!"

I am glad you had a good time. We will have to do it again under better conditions. I felt bad because of the haze we had that I couldnt give everyone a better view. The ooohs and aaahs still make me excited and happy when people are looking through my cannon. I still find it exciting when I came accross something new or see something different even on a object I thought I knew.

Here in Peoria I didn't feel it.
I was sleeping.
However, my editor was up and felt it here downstate.

o i definatley felt it! i was hanging out on the roof with my friends late, and we felt it for like 5 seconds. my friends said that it felt like an earthquake but i told her she was crazy because there are no earthquakes in the midwest. then in opposition, the following morning i heard that there really was an earthquake.

Tell me a bit more on what you felt. Were you in Chicago? Some people describe it as a rolling motion and others say it's more of a jolt and bump.

I live in Des Plaines and it was definatley a bumpy!, but i dont think rolling. and i pretty sure it was it because it was around the same time they said it was on the news, around 1:15 AM
