Post a quick message for the Chicago Astronomer here...
mojocvh: I'm BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jun 19, 2015 8:24:59 GMT -6
Chicago Astronomer Joe: Hey Mo! Jun 20, 2015 11:08:02 GMT -6
Buenos dias Sr. Joe!: Buenos dias Sr. Joe!! Yo siempre he admirado el cielo infinito, especialmente, porque mis ancestros se guiaban con los seres celestiales. I am planning to be with you tonight and learn a lot from you. Hasta luego y que tengas un excelente dia. Jul 21, 2015 23:22:39 GMT -6
phoeniss: that's the moon? i thought it was mercury. if it was mercury, he forgot to keep facing sun. though that might have required awkward side-stepping on his part. Jul 25, 2015 9:21:51 GMT -6
astromohsin: Hi where are the best places to view stars near the zip code 60659? Thanks Jul 30, 2015 8:04:05 GMT -6
60659: Look up! Aug 1, 2015 1:53:55 GMT -6
Calcasmy: Hello, Will much appreciate if you could please suggest places in and around Schaumbug, IL - 60173 to view stars and photograph them. Aug 8, 2015 14:38:24 GMT -6
John: Hello Calcasmy. Acher park is very wide open with low treelines around it. I don't know how dark it gets, but at least the view of the sky is "big." You could also try some of the nature preserves or Busse woods (further east). I hope this helps. Sept 28, 2015 2:25:24 GMT -6
Lynn: My son is making a Galilean telescope (9x magnification). I found instructions on line which calls for 1 Concave-convex lens: Diameter 49mm, focal length 1340mm and 1 Plano-concave lens: Diameter 49mm, focal length 152mm. I Can't find anywhere. Pls help Oct 15, 2015 5:54:34 GMT -6
C5Dad: Joe, I am reading this several years after. If you need cork, get it from the cabinet section of HD, Lowes or other home center. Worked like a champ with my C8 when I found there were no shims in an OTA I purchased! Jan 24, 2016 6:01:33 GMT -6
C5Dad: clear skies! Jan 24, 2016 6:01:39 GMT -6
C5Dad: chris (aka C5dad) Jan 24, 2016 6:02:01 GMT -6
New member: I see this flashing star every night but if I stare at it, it seems to sway side to side after awhile. Sometimes I can see the colors red, white, blue and green. It's as always in the tree tops (I want to say) NE from my front porch. May 15, 2016 18:00:57 GMT -6
New member: Also my husband thinks it's a UFO and I think it's a planet could u please help me figure out which one of us is closer to the truth May 15, 2016 18:02:07 GMT -6
Colm: Thanks for such precise details with great photos inspiring me to have a go with similar project. May 26, 2016 5:55:19 GMT -6
Colm: You might double check the flocking procedure. The corrector plate coatings take care of bouncing light inside tube and separate it from core light from outside tube. Flocking may disable those coatings and have a negative effect on scope performance. May 27, 2016 1:41:09 GMT -6
cyberbot: people are seeing these things from all latitudes in all directions at all times. you may see only one due to light pollution. in super dark areas you will see many. pretty impressive feat for a single star. especially when you see 4 or 5 of them. Jul 1, 2016 4:16:01 GMT -6
orionm42: Your online instructions have been invaluable to me as I move forward with me refurbish of an old C11. I am ready to paint the upper ring and base now and was curious as to how you prepped for the painting, I do have air brush capability. I am thinking Aug 7, 2016 10:47:08 GMT -6
