Well, first things first: My apologies for not being around lately. I've been overcoming the suicide of my cousin, and am now finally feeling the thrill of astronomy again. Admittedly, I've been hanging out on Cloudy Nights, and had the pleasure of many people offering kindness and advice. But, it's time to get back into the swing of things, and I figured the best thing to do to signify my return would be to post some pics. Sorry for my absence, hopefully it won't happen again.
It's been cloudy for such a long time, I forgot all about what's up night to night, and had to check Starry Night for alignment stars. But, after aligning the scope, I saw that the clouds were rolling in again, so I decided to take a peek at Mars, and then shoot some Lunar shots. Boy, I gotta tell you, when you haven't observed for such a long time, the Moon has got to be the most beautiful thing ever. I can't believe it looked so good. I also can't believe that I didn't forget how to use my scopes. It feels like it's been a million years since I looked through a scope for more than 5 minutes.
But, here's some shots from tonight: I was trying to get the "Sword", and unfortunately the wind had other ideas. Did you know that the dew shield on the SCT makes a really nice windcatcher???
And, on a completely different note, I had the pleasure of the UPS man delivering these while I was outside...
Funny thing about that was that he thought I was some kind of scientist. He took one look at the scopes, said "Wow, that's some pretty high-tech stuff. Are you some kind of research scientist or something?" Geez, I wish I was that smart. I'm lucky I know which end of the scope to look through half the time.
But, to make a long story short, I'm back. I hope nobody is upset that I didn't post my problems here. I figured Cloudy Nights was a better place to dump my woes, since there were more people to offer advice. Besides, this place is always cheery, I didn't want to ruin that. So, enjoy the pics, and there will be more as they come.
