We can finally put to rest the Meade is gonna buy Celestron rumors. Synta has acquired telescope maker Celestron:

I have been following this for awhile, and sad to see Celestron go. I understand that Meade is also in danger. Those who own a Celestrons are now owners of antiquities.

Let's hope the acquisition proves to be good for astronomers the world over.

I'm pretty pleased with my Synta scopes, and hopefully this will bring Synta up a notch and not the other way around.

Tell us about your Synta scopes and your experience with them, as I know practically nothing about the line.

Synta is the Chinese manufacturer for the Orion Astroview & Skyview Pro, and Celestron CR-150 HD, as well as a few others. They are not top shelf scopes, and have some color on bright objects as you would expect from an acromat when used without some sort of filter, but great for the money for the casual astronomer.
