The Chicago Astronomer Hiccupped!...
The notice that my server, number 23, that the forum resides on has been on it's way for a couple of weeks. It was early yesterday morning that they finally forced upon all subscribers the new and improved version...#4. With all it's promises, I had expected a smooth transition, but to my horror...when I logged in, it was all changed and screwed up!
First I had to re-log in with an activation code that was sent to my email, then all my images were lost. The topper was that I was not even able to access anything on the forum! I was near hyperventilation upon realizing that all the content from the past year might be gone...vanished into the vacuum of space!...
Support from the host was of little help, but a couple of techs did send me in the right direction. So deciphering code and re-inputing UBBC code into the boards, I finally started to make some headway, as my images started to re-appear...and with them, access to board content. Whew!...
Hours pass as I tackled each board, beating it into submission and demonstrating my superiority. Some are still fighting back and refuse to cooperate, but like they say, "Resistance is Futile!"
Thanks to all who sent me emergency emails and Pm's, worried on what the hell happened. It encouraged me to beat this problem quickly and get it running back to normal.
The new feature since the upgrade from Pro boards have good potential, and I encourage all to explore and have fun with them. I like the option to change the number of most recent posts from 10 prior to whatever you want now. There is a spell checker for you and the last subject from each poster is also listed. There is an option to rank each member. I'm exploring that one, but let's all take advantage of the new features and have fun.
Everything isn't smoothed out yet, as there are some rough edges still. When you encounter a problem or need assistance, please let me know, and I'll work on it to make your experience here as pleasent and comfortable as I can.
Thanks for you participation and patience!
