Chicago Astronomer Joe Now Certified as a "Telescope Interpreter" at the Adler Planetarium

This is something I should have done years ago...

After weeks of training and hands on experience at the Adler Planetarium, I have been certified as a "Telescope Interpreter" for the planetarium.

I had a 8" Dobsonian out to share views with the public who were visiting the planetarium, when I was approached by the lead astronomer and asked if I was ready to be certified. I was questioned about various components of astronomy, telescopes, the night sky, solar observation etc...

I was rather nervous, stumbled on a couple as I was trying to get into exam mode, but after it was all done....It was announced that I was now "Certified"! Hooray!! ;D

Unexpected, but now behind me!

It is quite cool interacting with all the staff there and meander thru the lower "catacombs" of the Planetarium and play with their various telescopic equipment. The perks ain't bad either.

More on my experiences as they occur, but I am quite excited about my new responsibilities.

Yeah.

Super congrats. There are many things I tell myself today that I should have done years ago....everyone has those. Just be glad you did it.
