One of Our Own is Recognized...
I was paging through the latest issue of Sky and Telescope, enjoying the articles...and to my great amazement...I catch a familiar logo on page 110.
It's Al's...Wow!!!
One of our members Chicago Astronomer Al Degutis has been recognized for his work in the field of astronomical group searches....
Al has created this neat search function for yahoo astronomical groups, and being that it is a tremendous amount of data to go through...quite a daunting task if you are looking for something in particular. Al has made this task easier for everybody...including myself.
Al let me in on this some time ago, but we kept it hushed until it became a reality. I am proud of Al's work and dedication in amateur astronomy, and quite happy that he is an active member of the Chicago Astronomer and one of my original members.
I encourage everybody to go get the March 2005 edition of Sky and Telescope and read the entire story about Al's solution to handle the situation.
