The Chicago Astronomer Receives an Excellence Award

Today I received a great surprise in my mail.

The Chicago Astronomer has been Awarded the - Astronomy Excellence Award - from the Meade 4505 Telescope group!

Moderator Jim Griggs, who created and built this great site to support and assist owners of 4.5" reflectors, sent me the email notifying me of my recognition. It looks like I am the first recipient of the New Year of 2005! And I am in great company, for Space.com and Universe Today are fellow laureates.

How cool! ;D

A couple of years ago, Jim and I shared a public viewing session on the Adler grounds during the height of Mars Madness. We must have served hundreds and hundreds of curious people that night. By the end of the frenzy that week, conservatively..more than one thousand people must have peered through my eyepiece!

Thanks Jim for the recognition, and for registering as part of the Chicago Astronomer family. And thank you all who continue to share your love of astronomy with literally the world... making it quite the popular site and a noticeable presence in the astronomical community.

It has been a real treat to see your love of astronomy lead to this forum where those of us who share that can get the latest sky scoop and meet every blue moon for a gathering!!! So cool!!
