The Chicago Astronomer at the Mid-Autumn Chinese Moon Festival at Burnham Corridor

This was our second Chinese Moon Fest at Burnham and always a treat to share the skies in this lot. We would have the 1/4 Moon to target early on. Daytime Moons have low contrast and blanched out. I always pop in a variable polarizer to increase visibility. Plenty of kids were in attendance, many who arrived especially to be with The Chicago Astronomer. (Note: I was impressed by one 17 year old lady, very interested in astronomy, that I considered hiring her on the spot for my After School Matters Astronomy program. More on this later.)
We also had several younger ladies who were vastly intrigued with telescopes and navigating the sky...
It was a busy evening as we slewed over to Saturn for awed views...
As the crowds thinned out, I popped in my Binoviewers, bringing a 3-D experience to the viewing..
Several visitors brought along their own telescopes for instruction and we got them up to speed, although we did have to battle the glare of the parking lot lights, but regardless, all had a blast...
We made new fans and welcome them to our Chicago Astronomer events across the city...

...and she started her Fall term with us on Monday, 25 September 2023......and all because she stopped by to look through telescopes.
