Join the Chicago Astronomer at the 606 Bloomingdale Trail

The Chicago Astronomer crew returns to our monthly public observation session at the 606 Trail as we share the night skies with our legion of loyal fans & friends.  The highlight will be the Planet Saturn and her fantastic ring system, (which is slowly closing - disappearing all together in 2025!)  And just maybe, catch Jupiter rising in the east before we pack up our gear.  I have yet to observe the King of the Planets this season, so it'll be a treat for me too.

We will start the evening at 7:30 pm to attend to our visitors till 9:30 pm.

And...if you have a telescope...bring it and join the Astronomers, especially if you would like help in operating your scope.

Another Solid Public Observation Session at the 606 Trail

The Chicago Astronomer Astronomer has been the designated Astronomer crew for the 606 since the inception of the trail and each time we conduct an event, has been a blast.  We have developed a loyal legion of fans there and always make new friends wherever we appear.

This evening was a cool temperate on a later summer evening and clear skies made for a solid session for our sky loving visitors.  We picked out various celestial targets, such as binaries in our scopes.  I had the "Coathanger" asterism for awhile...

Saturn was the highlight of the evening of course.  Here is a quick raw image quickly grabbed demonstrating how to do astrophotography...

And we also were treated to a nice bright pas of the International Space Station...

Many kids joined us and we will be back twice in October.  Once for our monthly visit on the third Friday of each month...but also for the Partial Solar Eclipse on Saturday, 14 October.  More on that when the date approaches.
