All Solar Session at Sherman Park

Join the Chicago Astronomer Sunday morning for an all solar session at Sherman Park ( 1301 W 52nd St,) in Chicago's near south east side for an all solar viewing party....

Sherman Park is a sixty-acre park in the New City neighborhood of South Side, Chicago. It was designed by renowned landscape architects John Charles Olmsted and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr., and celebrated Chicago architect Daniel Burnham.

We will have telescopes set up for our park visitors to safely view the surface of our closest star - the Sun. Telescopes will be filtered via Full Aperture Filters that block out 99.999% of the solar radiation and glare to view Sunspots, surface granulation and with a special Hydrogen-Alpha Telescope, sky lovers will be able to view solar Prominences along the solar limb.
