O K I know , don't buy a star. But I think it's a novel idea. I was thinking of buying a star for my wife. It's likeclimbing a mountain cause its there. Anyway my daughters boyfriend bought her a star and I would like to get a picture of it for her. I don't know how to do it so I was hopeing someone could post a picture here for me to print. The coordinates are
5h37m16.53s -2d10m24.67s its in the belt of orion.

I didn't have much success in locating the star thru NASA's star coordinate locator.

nstars.arc.nasa.gov/starcoords_form.cfm

I have tried other databases, but with no luck. Perhaps others will have better success.

Good news, Chicago Astronomer Oscar has figured out where the star is located...

Just below the belt of Orion is the star in question. Perhaps Oscar can tell us more about it...magnitude, distance, name etc...

Timothy's daughter's star (star's name?) was identified in the Tycho2 catalog and has the designation TYC4770-00918-1 and is listed as an 11.14 magnitude star. I could not figure out how to retrieve the information from the catalog directly so I do not have any additional information such as distance. In Cartes du Ciel it appears to have a reddish hue.

Wow, thanks so much! I knew I could count on you guys. The map will definitely do the job. It just happens that I was looking for the horsehead tonight. Now I can see that I was off a bit. I thought that it was right next to zeta orionis but I can see by the map that it is down a little.
