Hi Everyone,

Is anyone familiar with Star Charters Astronomy Adventures based on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands? I am doing a vacation there next month and wanted to take advantage of some dark skies, and stumbled upon this online. Looks like it is run by someone named Kary Williams who has an 18" dobs on the island. I have found a phone number for them, but the number seems invalid. I can't find any email addresses. It is possible it is no longer around.

It's a shot in the dark, but I thought I would ask in the off chance anyone has been to St. Thomas and heard of this and might have some ideas of how I can get in touch. Or if anyone has any other contacts there that might offer something similar on that island. Unfortunately as I don't have a travel scope, I'm doing my best to find something local where I can get some viewing in.

Hey man. I don't, but binoculars were fantastic there.

If you have no luck, I would just ask around down there. The islands are quite small. I would be shocked if somebody didn't know this person.

i tried calling the gift he works out of and nobody answers. Perhaps calling the resort direct and asking if he is still there?

Sure. Or email the resort. Or just wing it when you get there.

In the good news department, Omega Centauri, Jewel Box, & Coal Sack look to be easy evening targets from Caribbean in May. You will have a blast even with travel binocs.

Thanks all for the feedback. I did try calling the resort, but they said they closed the gift shop and the person I spoke with was not familiar with this person. If I can't hunt this down ahead of time, I might have more luck once I'm on the island asking around. I figured this was a long shot, but hey you never know. I will also for sure be taking the binoculars, I bet they will be great to use down there.
