Below is a photo I took from Arlington Heights, Illinois of the Moon aged 2.5 days on 2007 SEP 13 at 19:36 CDT. That Moon was positioned similarly to what you might expect to see on 2011 OCT 28.

I got a shot of the 2.1-day old Moon amidst clouds this evening. It was taken from Arlington Heights, Illinois on 2011 OCT 28 at 18:18 CDT.

I too noticed the crescent Moon early Friday evening a little bit later as well, but more of a cloud blockage was going on.

I slept too late to catch Luna last night, but I tried my best Thursday. Best I can figure, this attached pic is the closest I came to seeing the new Moon.

I did get a nice consolation prize, however.

VENUS! (Which I'll get to soon[?] on another thread).

First time in over a year that I've seen her in the evening sky.

Saw it last night in Austin at 7:40. Beautiful but was to hurried to get a pic.
