A nice pairing this evening of the Pleiades and the waning Moon

Hey kids....

While on your evening out, take a moment and look up for a glance at a nice conjunction of the Pleiades and The Moon this evening.

Rising about 9:30 pm, wait an hour till they are higher in the urban skies for better views and angles.

For those with Telescopes, low power/wide field eyepieces will provide the best views. Binoculars highly recommended. The Seven Sisters/Pleiades are diamond jewels to be relished in optical instruments.

Also....

Jupiter will be riding high for some good viewing tonight.

I had a chance to setup my 4.5" in unincorporated Island Lake last night at a bonfire party I attended. Lots of stars and almost no light....cool! The kids there were amazed by the views of the Pleiades and Jupiter.

Documentation is very important and also gives the rest of the crew to share in the enjoyment. The 4.5" is a great little scope and delivers nicely. My primary scope for many many years.

Chicago was mostly partly cloudy for the conjunction, and not worth setting up a scope and camera...
