The folks at Chicago Astronomical Society is throwing the famous/ infamous Astrofest.
Sept 2nd thru 4th, 2011.

- Never been to a farm
- Wanna get lost in a cornfield
- Wanna see 14inch Meade cat on robotic Paramount
- Or you just want to hangout with pure astro nerds

I will be attending the Astrofest Outreach Program the weekend before the Astrofest Vana Farm star party. I will only be coming down for Saturday night, though, as I have other family obligations that prevent me from attending the entire weekend. I don't know about the Vana Farm star party the following weekend, though. I'll have to see if I can work something out for that. I definitely need to get down for next weekend's outing in order to brush up on my outreach skills in preparation for my first solo presentation on a Disney cruise in October.

Holy Crap!!! I just checked the astronomy forecast on Accuweather.com. It shows 10s every single night for the next five days!!!! Is that astro paradise or what? That astro forecast is for both Starved Rock and back here at home. So, no matter where I am these next few days, night time viewing should be fantastic. I can't wait for Astrofest Part I this weekend!

Sorry guys, but if Accuweather says 10, my experience says that you'll likely be home with Netflix. ;-P

True. That has been my experience, also, when Accuweather is showing something different from other forecast models. However, Weather.com is also showing clear skies every night in their 5-day forecast. Also, the Clear Sky Clock is showing exceptional skies for tonight and tomorrow night. So, I'm going to go ahead and hold my breath for phenomenal viewing opportunities over the next few nights.
