The extended weather forecast call for a nice evening to set up telescopes and catch some Saturn and lunar gazing.

If clear, we will set up scopes by the Adler area this Saturday at 8:00 pm and share the skies with our fans till 11:00 pm.

Check this thread, and the Chicago Astronomer feeds on Twitter and Facebook for confirmation updates.

Stop by if in the area and say hi.

Got Booker T. tickets at the Old Town School tomorrow night, so the debut of my C90 will have to wait. If I get to do any observing, it looks like it will have to be at Sunken Gardens after the show.

I'll be there, slowly setting up in spirit. Have fun.

Saturday, (party cloudy or not), will be the only night available to the Chicago Astronomers for any telescope time this weekend...as Soldier Field is hosting a Soccer Cup game Sunday evening.

And the area will be locked down something awful.

Seriously though, that sucks. I have a prior commitment tonight (taking a private group to the observatory ), and I was looking forward to tomorrow night's session.

Monday not sure about yet either.

For future Soldier Field events or really any time, I would remind you that Sunken Gardens is always available, the street light is still out, and that I was catching galaxies from there. Am happy to shoot a note to neighbors to get some eyeballs with even a little notice. Horner also always good.

I was by the Sundial, taking great glory shots of the C11, skyline and fireworks.

Pics soon.

But...it was a nice non-astronomical session with friends.

Cloudy skies don't stop the Chicago Astronomer....

As I was packing the equipment into the van, It was actually heavily drizzling. Why bother going crossed my mind a few times, but I had friends stopping by and we do it.

Glad I did.

As it was cloudy and foggy, I elected to set up by the Sundial, off of the Adler's north side for some glory shots of the C11 and catch the fireworks soon to be shot.

Telescopes bring visitors, clear or cloudy...and I spent the evening talking with people, seeing friends who stopped by and taking photographs..

I did not take pics of most of my visitors, as the camera was composed on the C11, but I did take a few. Those that came up to the C11 made mention on how pretty it is.

The rest are glamor shots of a good lookin' scope.

I normally shoot in Tungsten White Balance, but tried one on Average White setting...

....Yuk...

Here I try to burn the clouds away...

In the last pic, the smoke from the fireworks at Navy Pier wafted over to my site, making things more hazy. I stayed till 11:00 pm, when as I was breaking down the site....the Moon appeared and skies became sorta party cloudy.

And so it goes.

Clouds or not, the Chicago Astronomer always has a good time...
