I was freezing my butt off! Also, I realize that the cheap aluminum alt-az mount that this scope came with is impossible to keep steady even in 0 wind. It was fun though once I got past the frozen knuckles.

Hard core man, but I understand. I was out last year in Jan after getting my Christmas scope!

What did you see?!

After the blizzard passed we had nice clear skies the next two nights, and I couldn't let them pass without attempting to observe. Late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning I was out for about 45 minutes before clouds threatened again, and the temperature dropped. Thursday night I braved sub-zero wind chills for about two hours. That session should have been longer, but instead of picking off easy targets with a simple star chart, I hauled out almost every resource I have, including laptop to try to track down space rocks (asteroids). I couldn't work without having to take my gloves off, and once my fingers reached the point that they could not stay warm, it was over. It felt good to see stars again, even if I struggled recognizing a few constellations.

I guess that happens after a prolonged stretch of unfavorable weather.
