Chicago Astronomer first Star Party of September

Although it's cloudy as I write this - with distant flashes of lightning to the south...Friday promises to be a good night to be looking up and setting up telescopes...and Saturday even better...

We will be at our usual Chicago Astronomer Observation #1 at 7:30 pm...

No Moon for awhile, but we will have Jupiter to enjoy, and as it's getting close to Opposition, is a good target for study and to share. We can even try for some Deep Space Objects as well. If the air is still, some imaging might also be in order.

I think that this will be a "double-header" - two sessions for Friday & Saturday...same time and location.

Can't ignore that "10" that Accu-Weather promotes...

I want to try to make it out on Saturday to meet you all and to bring my Dob for some clear views. I was just wondering what the parking situation is down there (location and price-wise).
Thanks in advance and I hope to meet some of you there.

There should be plenty of parking along Solidarity Drive, leading up to the Planetarium. It's all meters and a dollar an hour....much better than the actual parking lot, which can run $16.00 and up.

A mag of -0.9 at 21:27:09 at only 10 degrees high.

But, still.

Ok kids...

I canceling tonight's gathering.

It's overcast and the winds are gusty.

It may clear up later, but let's save it for tomorrow - as conditions will be better.
