I went out and looked at the sun today using my 4.5" mylar sun filter and I also put in my 25% moon filter to tone it down even more, it works good. I can see the hugh grouping of sun spots on the western limb that hopefully will give us some nice aurora. There is also a grouping of about 5 spots in the center and a good size single black spot on the eastern limb. Can't see any prominance with this filter but all around the edge of the sun it was sizzling. Pretty cool

I enjoy a good solar observation session on my own away from the Adler. I think, like you, I will monitor the current sunspot situation closely.
