I had a mini observation session of the crescent moon on Friday the 20th by the lakefront, met some nice individuals...but since...not a one.
I had the opportunity to visit Itasca Illinois for a surf/classic car show. It was great. I had the for sight the bring along my binoculars for after event sky time. Starrysungazer and I found a semi-dark spot in Itasca and scanned the skies. A lot more stars and DSO's observed than in the bright inner city of Chicago. I spent about an hour examining thru the binos and had a nice time finding old friends, but with a new background of fainter stars. I can't wait for truly dark skies!
I had planned to take in an observation session Sunday and Monday nights, but Sunday was the air show and I was fatigued from cycling to and from it, and Monday seemed too hazy...although the moon shined through nicely.
If I do get a nice clear night this week, I will make my way toward the lakefront once again, and meet more nice people interested in astronomy.
(Side Note)...
My scope needs a tune up.
The collimation is off, the tube rings have become loose, my finder scope isn't aligned and one of my tripod legs is loosing it's adjustable grip.
Sigh.
