What better place to be than looking straight at the sun when a planet transits it!

Although, from SOHO's perspective, the Venus merely cruised in front of the corona and not the face of the sun, but the images are still fascinating.
Mercury's transit in May 2003 however, did cross the surface of the sun in SOHO's perspective, there's even a movie of it going across which is worth checking out. There is also shots of Mercury's 1999 transit which like this year's transit of Venus, did not cross the sun from where SOHO looks at it.

Before I really got into astronomy, I dabbled in (gasp) astrology ... forgive me but I wonder what would be the astrological signifigance of a transit?
