On 1Mar06 the Mag 14.4 asteroid (334) Chicago will occult the Mag 11.3 star TYC 6272-02300-1 for nearly 6 seconds.

But you will have to go to Jackson, MS to see it.

How cool to see your post and in regards to the "Chicago" asteroid! Six seconds is quite a lengthly period of time to blink out a star. This brings up another point of thought that I have mentioned before..

Considering the billions of stars in our skies...why isn't it much more common that the Moon, planets, asteroids and other bodies don't occult something at every turn. Hmmm....

But regardless...how unjust it is that we can't view it from the light pollluted skies of Chicago!...
