Hello everyone

My name is Hiram and i am looking forward to getting together with anyone in astronomy thanks Joe for helping me get on board the forum i like the website lots of interesting stuff and for anyone who was at the last Adler Friday night viewing that i met. hello again to you i was the guy with the 1980 classic celestron 8 orange tube again i want to say thanks to everyone that helped me that night, i had a great time and wanted to stay longer maybe next time. congrats bill for also getting on the site i think i met you at the Adler that night also .hey you guys are there any star parties going on i need more practice with everything because I'm still new to the astronomy world.

I do two star parties a month one at Triton College and the other one at Schaumberg NAture center. If your interested just look around for the details. This month they are:

Triton 16 July
Schaumberg 23 July


So now youcant say I didnt warn you. Joe were are the pics from last mnths starparty at schaumberg.

...it didn't hurt to much

There were a few experimental methods that I used to bring in the members...

I used to hit potential members on the head as they walked by with my telescope, and then while in a daze, placed my card in their pocket and subliminally suggested the Chicago Astronomer forum in their ear.

That didn't work out too well.

Then, I pasted transparent Hubble images onto my eyepieces and promised the magnificent views were only available to Chicago Astronomer members.

That didn't work out too well either.

Then, I chased people away who wanted to take a look, Yelling "What the hell do you want?", thinking playing hard to get would bring in members to an elite club.

That didn't pan out well.

Then, after my Fox Tv/Toutatis interview...I gave away sweet potatos on street corners with the website burned into them. I'm still cleaning out potato pulp from my mirror.

I thought for sure that would bring in members!

Then...I resorted to all out pleading, begging... appealed to a persons pity and offered to split binaries for free .

After I got out of the "Institution", I greeted people with a firm handshake, a smile and an invitation to join fellow astronomers online and in person.

It's the simple things... ;D

I hate when that happens , Hey joe whats up ? are you going to triton on the 16th and has anyone heard any new stuff on the comet tempel 1 yet ? Hey Becky i guess you and i already met do you remeber at last months star party at the triton soccer field i was talking to you and your husband about getting my scope collimated and you told me to talk to that guy with the white telescope i think it was a 6 foot tube, that he was the best with schmidt cassegrains i had a blue jean jacket on w/brown hair anyway after i saw a pic in the thread of you and your hubby i had recignised i hope i spelled that right that you were the two i talked to small world ah.

It's a good possibility that I may attend the Triton event. Must check the schedule first, but we'll have a good time if I do. Your brothers coming along as well?

Check the "Deep Impact" board here on the forum for updates on the mission. X-rays have determined that the hole was larger than expected and that the comet had talcum-like powder on the surface.

Thats right. Im sorry I meet so many people at some of these star parties its hard to keep them stright.

Yes Joe my eldest brother will be there jim the one with the hat he's really interested in it thats how i got interested when i was a kid. and BECKY thats alright i understand .
