Hi, folks.

I learned about this site just the other day and thought I would join the forum to see how I might participate in the discussions. I am completely green in the field of astronomy; I enjoy stargazing, and can name a few constellations, but have not learned about ascensions and declinations, etc.

I am interested in aerospace activities, and studied engineering at school. I prefer to focus on activities that would get humanity “out there” rather than just looking.

I do quite a bit of Internet surfing and some numerical mathematics programming. Since my astronomy knowledge is so limited, I think most of my contributions in this forum will be in the “off-topic” discussions. I noticed the forums on space shows. I will head over there now and add a few reviews; the threads are old, but perhaps visitors can use the feedback to choose DVDs.

Welcome as a registered member of the Chicago Astronomer family.

It matters not if you possess Sagan-like knowledge of astronomy or know little about the night sky. Your interest in astronomy is all it takes, and sometimes brings a different slant to things.

Aerospace activities includes space travel, manned and unmanned, and we would enjoy your insight on the topic.

Tell us some more about your self, how you found us and your interest in the skies...

I noticed a few threads seem to be locked. For example, in the "Astronomical Software and Links" forum, the last thread is "Lunar Charts . . .". I was hoping to mention a couple of links I like.

Is this thread locked based on age?

I don't remember why I locked certain threads...astronomers senility I guess... #confuse#

But I have unlocked the threads in the Astronomical Software board and you can add your favorite links, software and other reference sites to the data base.
