[Tuugii]

Greetings to all,

my name is Tuguldur/simply just Tuugii/, 17, and live in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. I've started astronomy since 12, and built 34 telescopes, found one Amateur astronomy club /www.aacm.sr.mn/ so far.

Working at the local observatory since 2005.

And planning to study by Astronomy-major from this summer at the University of Arizona.

lastly want to say many thanks to my freind "Centaur", and Joe for helping to join this wonderful community!

Great to have worked out the kinks and have you finally registered as a member of the Chicago Astronomer family. I think you are from the most exotic locale we have as a resident member.

Mongolia

Here is a pic of Tuugii with I assume is a telescope he built, which I understand he is quite adapt in. Note: That tripod that is shown in the pic, is the very same tripod I ever got in the 1970's! I still have it, but it had become wobbly and worn from extensive use. I use parts from it on other set-ups. Cool...

Please do tell us more about yourself and your interest in amateur astronomy. I am very interested in astronomy in that part of the world. Isn't the internet a facinating tool?

And a great thanks to Curt who encouraged me to work on the registration snafu for Tuugii.

thanks for your warm welcome !

yeah, this picture is caught during my observation of 2007-3-19 partial solar eclipse, which was visible from Asia. The small telescope is my first built telescope-55mm f/8 refractor, I really enjoy it still now...I've built it using eyeglass lenses and PVC pipes, under 12$.

That tripod is a great one! I remember 5years ago my brother gave me as a birthday gift...hehe...

Also, you can see the projection through the telescope of the partial elcipse on my hand! cool...

And yeah the internet is sure fascinating tool! I've met with many wonderful people like you through this connection, , its a great chance for the regular one boy from this "harsh" place.

The development of astronomical science in our country is very poor...there aren't any astronomical faculties, any research works related to astronomy. We do have one observatory, where I work, but there is only one professional astronomer studies geological structure of impact craters...the biggest working telescope here is 8" old coude refractor...when I've interested in astronomy firstly when I was 8, I had to wait for more 4 years just to find one old russian book. The "road" was hard, I guess it would be much harder in the future, despite these my love to astronomy is a bit greater!


Oh, and my other hobbies are traveling, web designing, programming, math, physics, Photography and ping-pong(the table tennis)

We are so glad that you have dropped in here and have managed to persevere enough to get registered on the site. It sounds like when you decide to try something that very little can make you stop!

Very impressive building your scopes and amassing all of the knowledge that you have. I think that someday not too far away Mongolia will have two astronomers!

From your other I interests, it sounds like you are one bright and busy young man.

Please continue to share your experiences, observations and equipment here. I am sure that you can also get many questions answered as well.
