Hi Gang,

I thought I would share some news with you all. I have been taking a online Astronomy Course now for over a year. First it was for a Certificate of Completion then it was for a Diploma.

Well I found out Tue morning I recieved my Diploma. I am waiting for it to arrive. I will post it when I do.

I just thought I would share my news with all of you. Now its is on to my ALPO Observers Training.

Can you give us a feel for how much time was involved? How many credit hours it represents if it converts that way?

Ok you have to do the Certificate of Completion first. That took me about 6 months. Very interesting but you better read the stuff very clearly.

Then The Diploma Course took about a year. It requires 1,000 to 1,500 word essays. Lots of reading and writting. The Final project was the hardest. Mine was over 2,000 words on NEO and Comets.

As for Credit hours I am not sure if there really is any, I have been told people do use the Diploma to advance in College. Istead of taking Astronomy 101 they go to 102. Hope this helps. I will admit I learned alot.

Now with this ALPO Training Program I am doing it can take 1 year to 18 months. You have to be a member of ALPO to do it. I am going to do Minor Panets and Lunar for phase two. I am now at the drawing stage so I am about half way done with phase 1.
