Observers catching Aurorae in Illinois
Dennis Persyk from northern Illinois and from his great Igloo Observatory in Hampshire, took this impressive shot of the recent northern light activity from the eruption of sunspot 930.

I tried to spot any sign of aurora from the heart of Chicago, but it was futile. They were apparently shooting right over my head heading south, as some have been reporting, but I saw no indication. I do get to see each clear night the "Great Chicago Nebula" that is the orange light pollution blanket that is our urban sky.
