Very good seeing conditions for Chicago on the night of 3-26-06.

I brought out the "jack of all trades" scope to view the planets along with a few brighter DSOs from Chicago like globular clusters: M3, M13 and M53; and the neat Ghost of Jupiter NGC 3242.

Here are 2 quick shots of the gas giants with a digital camera.
Saturn high in the steady and clear sky; Jupiter hovering the mucky horizon.

Excellent Detail on the Saturn shot, and as always, your images are too cool!... ;D

When I'm up late at night/early in the morning, I can see the planets and the Moon whiz by my living room windows and just smile. Last night, while working in the garage, I knew it was going to be a great night for astronomy...no clouds, crisp and the transparency positive. Told Liz that we should sneak some observational time in... But alas...things needed to be done and I had to forgo a session with the scope.

Well done, and I await your next early morning cell phone text to catch a few pre-dawn observational moments.
