Here are a couple of shots from the 14th. One of Jupiter, which will get better once I get the right combination of camera settings and eyepiece. The other is of M13. It actually came out better than I had expected, even though you really can't see much detail.

Both shots, and probably every shot I post for a while, was and will be with the Meade LXD75 AR6-AT. I will be using my reflectors too, but not for a while. I want to get used to the new scope and get some good use out of it. Then I'll bring the others back out.

The Jupiter pic was with a 25mm eyepiece, the camera zoomed in about 5 times, and was a stack of 2249 frames.




M13 was a 25mm eyepiece and the following camera settings:
2 second exposure : f2.8 : no zoom : ISO800 : one single shot

Your M13 is encouraging. The camera I use is limited to 15 seconds. If you got that in 2 seconds, that's pretty good. Under city skies I will try a lower ISO and a longer exposure (high ISOs tend to bring out skyglow more, or so I've read).

I just got me an 8" LX200 Classic. Still trying it out. Will try out deep-sky images when the moon is out of the way.

That is a good image from a regular digital camera. Usually we see pics taken with ccd equipment, but this is quite cool.

It's really about what we see in the eyepiece in real time too.

I decided to go ahead and attempt some dsos in spite of the quarter moon. I got M13, M5, M92, and M11. My first ever attempts to shoot dsos, except for some widefield film slr pics on a fixed tripod that I took years ago (with film that isn't made anymore).
