finally got Registax to work with avi files after running them thru HandyAvi. I probably don't have all the nuances of Registax down, but here are images that surprised me.
They were taken thru an 8" LX200 and Canon Powershot A510 ( in movie mode) and 25mm W70 ep and (I think) 3x barlow. It was after midnight since I had to wait for the moon to clear the trees. The day befor full moon is not a time I usually observe.
Seeing was about average, started to degrade as high fog rolled in. In the third pic (Sirsalis) I largely hand-picked the good frames. It's tough because in each frame some parts of the image would be sharper than other parts and vice-versa. The seeing would be like a wave going thru.
Incidentally, the images are correctly oriented even though they were taken thru an SCT. I used a 90° correct-image diagonal. Was just in the mood.

Sunrise over Grimaldi at lower left. Reiner and Reiner Gamma to the right of picture. Looks like a dome is visible on Grimaldi
