I have come to the conclusion that I spend way too much money on astro gear. I have been slowly aquiring more and more astro trinkets and doodads as time goes by.

Within a matter of about a month and a half, I've added some new lock knobs for my tripod legs (with newer ones coming), lock knobs for my counterweights, a Polarizing Moon Filter set, a Celestron-Baader Contrast Booster filter, a new dovetail bar for the LXD75, a new dovetail lock knob, two more accessory cases, a JMI refractor case, a JMI LXD75 mount case, a counterweight case, three green lasers, a red LED flashlight (which has not arrived yet), a 14mm ED eyepeice, another 2" diagonal, and a partridge in a pear tree. I'm sure there's more, I just can't remember what. There's been so much it kind of blurs together.



I have realized why I am accumulating all of this stuff. I'm bored, and with the boredom comes the time to cruise the internet and all it has to offer. The boredom itself comes from countless nights of staring AT my telescopes, instead of THROUGH them. I can only download so may free songs and free movies before I reach the end of my list, and after that, it's straight to the astro companies. Oh, and Ebay. I think I'm slowly driving myself insane with each astro purchase. I keep thinking it's over, but then something else pops up that I want. I need to hide my credit cards from myself.

Of course, I don't know why I'm telling you guys, You're all probably in the same boat.


Well, at least it keeps me away from the porn sites. Oh no, wait. It doesn't

Tools of science are items to be owned with pride and one can never have too many! "Just one more item will make my observational experience better!"

There's a problem when it starts interfering with your beer purchases...

I don't have to worry about the interference. I quit drinking a long time ago. When I realized that it interfered with my ability to be human. Plus the many years as a bouncer made me see what people were like when they were intoxicated. I figured I could look that stupid without the alcohol and have more fun. Of course, when I bounced, I did enjoy a few Long Islands and a modified version of the Blue Hawaiian (we called it the Blue Mother F'er) here and there, but never to the point of forgetting who I was or why I was there.

Besides, I never liked beer that much. I was a whiskey man. Yukon Jack. That stuff was yummy.

My problem with astro purchases is that there is more money spent, and not enough use of the equipment. The time spent away from the equipment encourages more spending. It somehow doesn't seem to balance out quite right. But, at least when it comes time to be able to use the equipment for a good duration of time, I'll have everything I need, and won't have to say "geez, I gotta get that".


On the good side, My JMI cases should be delivered tomorrow. Of course, my luck usually runs to the effect of... The tracking says tomorrow, so it will probably be Monday.


But, I guess that's what it's like to be me. And then you go bald, and the chicks look at you funny, and Jesus will be here soon with his double edged sword on his white horse going down the middle of Cass Avenue, and they're spraying again, and the end is near. Well, I gotta go look for some more Hot Wheels. (Hi, Wash-n-Wax)

And yet another astro purchase surfaces. I've bought so much stuff lately that I forget what's coming. I came home to find this on my doorstep.






A very nice Ebay find. A 14mm ED Epic clone. Very nice lenses. Very big. I put it in the AT80 and looked at the cell tower across the way, it presents a very nice view. Now if only I could have a clear night to test it out. It is shown next to my 32mm Celestron for comparison. It's too big at the top for my Digi-T ring, so I have to figure something out to get the camera on it. No big deal. I'm always full of sh...oops, I mean ideas.

I wonder what's gonna show up next?

Nice couple of eyepieces...you can never have too many I say.

One of my favorites is a homemade wide-field 10X i cannibalized from a broken pair of binoculars. It's the first one I grab for when starting a session.

The 32mm should provide nice comfortable rich field views.

I like the two you got and wait the results.
