Join the Chicago Astronomer crew Saturday morning as we return to the Nature Center and share safe views of the Sun via filtered telescopes.  We had such a good time last week, that we are invited back and bring urban Astronomy to North Park visitors.

The weather looks decent for our morning solar viewing, with clouds coming in later in the day.  Join us and hang out with the cool kids for the opportunity to catch solar artifacts in probably...our last Chicago Astronomer Solar session of our public observational season.

The Chicago Astronomer Encore return to the North Park Village Nature Center
Solar Session

We return to the North Park Village Nature Center to share the Solar disk with our fans and make new ones who have never viewed the Sun in the face.

The skies were partly cloudy and we played dodge with the clouds and waited for the "sucker holes" , allowing us to grab precious moments of solar clarity, displaying Sunspots in the 152mm Refractor and nice prominences in the Hydrogen-Alpha scope.  Chicago Astronomer crew member, Maria, set-up the the area while I attended to our guests and lectured on telescopes.


I brought along the 5" ETX that was generously donated to the Chicago Astronomer, in it's first trial run to view the surrounding area.  Performing well, I was able to demonstrate the differences in the types of telescopes at hand...

  

    

...allowing one eager young Astronomer to work the controls.

This young man also brought along his own telescope and I assisted in how to use it...

        

We shared views and discussed all things astronomical with our sky lovers, many who are on my email notification emails and made the special trip to see us.  (If you wish to receive Chicago Astronomer notifications of events, activities and news, email me at: [e-mail] )

This will probably be our last public Solar Observation session of the season, but our night time sessions still go on till December.  Consult the Chicago Astronomer schedule for our schedule.
