With the astronomy community all abuzz about Comet Machholz, I think some Comet Observing basics are in order. I found this site and I think it's a good resource for beginners and seasoned observers:

Personally, I like the way it presents the information as well as what it includes (e.g. estimating a comet's magnitude).
