Fellow Chicago Astronomers and Adler crew...
A few new things I would like to share with you this cold Saturday evening.
1 - I have finally attached a great new finder scope to my 4.5" OTA. Looks good, works great and the full account of the project can be found here:

I greatly thank Chicago Astronomers Bill and Steve who both unknowingly helped me build this from different directions.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 - I understand the Comet Pojmanski is putting on a nice display in our eastern skies now. In binoculars, it shows a pale blue fuzz ball close to Venus. Info can be found here:

I haven't been able to view it yet, but I hope to soon before it heads out and away starting Monday.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 - Jupiter has developed a new Great Red Spot. Quite exciting. I haven't had the chance to observe this yet, but perhaps when the next clear pre-dawn sky presents itself, I can catch both Jupiter and the comet. Information on the new spot can be found here:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 - While working the Far Out Friday activity at the Adler last Friday, we were chatting amongst ourselves, and I brought up the idea that perhaps we could start a Chicago Astronomer Bicycle group. Peddling the lakefront and other areas during the warmer months. I used to do this with my students quite often in the Police dept...30-40 at a time in single file. Quite a commanding sight. If this is something you think you might enjoy participating in, let me know and let's get it started.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 - And...while we were chowing down on pizza before our assignments, it was asked about free astronomical software. On the Chicago Astronomer there are links to very good free software and astronomical sites. It can be found here: astronomer.proboards23.com/index.cgi?board=Software
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No need to plod thru the countless threads...You can check up on the 30 most recent postings on the Chicago Astronomer just by visiting this link:
