Fellow Chicago Astronomers,
(Some of you may have received this information prior, but better to cover all avenues I say.)
This Saturday, the 11th of February, we are celebrating Chicago Astronomer Linda's and my birthdays.
(It's also Steve Cosgove's Birthday as well, but he will busy preparing for his adventurous Alaskan trip! - We will toast to him in absentia - )
Fellow Chicago Astronomer Rajasi is organizing this knockout get together, so please send your intentions to her so she can keep an accurate account. Quite a few of the Crack Chicago Astronomers/Adler crew will be in attendance I understand.
Her email is: wannabeastronomer@gmail.com
This is her note:
Hello everyone,
As planned we will be meeting this weekend for Linda and Joe's B'day bash.
Here are all the details.
When: Saturday 11th Feb at 7:25 PM (the reservation is for 7:30)
Where: Mama Desta's Red Sea Restaurant (African/Ethiopian Cuisine)
3216 N. Clark St. (North of Clark and Belmont)
773-935-7561
The reservation is under "Linda and Joe" or "Joe and Linda" (I don't
remember, but both the names are included)
Parking can be tough. You can find street or meter parking, or there is
a parking lot right across the restaurant and according to the person
I talked to, it will be $10 max. If you share the ride, it wont be
that bad.
If you are planning to take CTA then the closest red line stop is on
Belmont and Sheffield (less than 2 blocks away) and there is a CTA bus
#22 (Clark st.) which drops you off right near the restaurant.
If none of the above options work for you but would still like to join
us, then contact me. We will figure something out.
For those who are planning to meet us afterwards - right now we do not
know where we will be going afterwards, but there are a lot of bars
around clark and belmont, so might just hang there or go somewhere
else. In anycase give one of us a call.
See ya,
Rajasi.

Now, I never had Ethiopian food before, so it should be an adventure sharing the experience with fellow lookers of the sky. Bring along a couple of bucks to kick in the check and for beverages afterwards. Carpooling would be a great idea as well.
Thank you for your Birthday wishes and Adler cake we received. It's all appreciated and it will be great to see you there...makes checking off another year a little less painful!
See all soon.
