Im a novice still learning AP. I am looking to learn from people who have experience with pixinsight. I live in the northern suburbs of chicago.

Hey Peety G, I have Pixinsight, but like you I'm still learning. I have used it mostly to align and stack. Also, to combine aligned bandpass pics to get a color image(I can help with that). For the rest I follow the instructions of video tutorials I found online. I live in Chicago.

thanks for getting back. When you refer to bandpass. Do you mean Batch Debayer processing?

No, I was referring to the pictures I take with with filters,(H-alpha 12nm, OIII 12nm and wider bandpass filters-up to 40nm). Since I sometimes image in Chicago, these filters are necessary to image emission nebulae light as they filter out most of the light pollution.

You can use STAR ALIGNMENT to align multiple images, then use IMAGE INTEGRATION to stack them and CHANNEL COMBINATION to make a color image with these filtered images. At this time I image with a stock Canon T3i dslr and a older modded Canon 10D dslr(internal filter removed so it can pick up more of the H-alpha present in emission nebulae). Because I image with a dslr, I have to split the image into RGB(red, green and blue channels) using CHANNEL EXTRACTION. FOR H-alpha pics I keep only the red channel and for OIII I keep the green and blue channels. Thanks so much. I am just entering stage where i am taking darks,flats and bias frames. I'm only using a One shot color camera. So much to learn. I think Pixinsight is an amazing program. I have watched Harry's videos which are very good. . I wish I could find video geared towards one shot color processing.

You are welcome. This is the one I use sometimes for color processing:

Just ignore the part at the beginning where the LRGB images are combined to make a color image, since you already have a color image.
