Fellow Chicago Astronomers....
The winter chill is unrelenting and public Chicago Astronomer Star Parties are still over a month away, but science still goes on.
There are some lectures coming up that our good Chicago Astronomer members might be interested in attending:
"Ninety five percent of the Universe is missing!!"
On Saturday, the 15th of February, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, at the Adler Planetarium, the science of "Cold Dark Matter" will be discussed with Dr. Edward Kolb from the University of Chicago. This should be a very insightful lecture about cosmological stuff we really don't know much about now.
"I'm thinking of a number..."
This next one is really cool.... with Dr. Michio Kaku....! The renowned Physicist and co-creator of the String Theory... will be lecturing on "The future of the mind". This will be on Thursday, the 27th of February 6:00pm to 7:30 pm.
The lecture will be at the U of C....
Assembly Hall/International House at the University of Chicago - 1414 East 59th St.
These lectures are free and open to all.
In other matters....
Adler After Dark is a solid go for Thursday, the 20th of February 6pm - 10pm. If clear, we will be dragging out scopes for some nice Jupiter and winter target sky viewing.
Although, public sessions are paused for the Chicago Astronomer crew until the weather warms, I have been conduction some limited solo sessions at the estates. This past Monday, the 10th of February, I hope all good Chicago Astronomers looked up and caught the nice conjunction of Jupiter and the Moon...
Details and pics here:
And we recently had a good monster Sunspot showing...
Clear skies and see all soon.
