Celestron NexStar 8 SE on "Three and a Half Men"
On this Thursday evening, while working on other stuff that Astronomers do...I had the TV on and the CBS show "Three and a Half Men" running in the background. I overheard one of the chicks, that the dudes often pick up, mention that she like astronomy.
Looking up, a hot blonde was discussing Orion with Walden...who mentions that he has a telescope. Setting it up, they are both observing thru a Celestron NexStar 8 SE.
Now, I'm not a fan of the one-arm Nexstar scopes, but for a quick grab and go...it's nice. This one also has a zero-mag red dot finder...but they are using 1.25" eyepieces and the Declination level of the scope is really too low for any practical astronomical observations. This instrument is priced at about $1000.00...keeping with the millionaire story line of the show. I would have picked a more sophisticated scope...but ok, it's just a sit-com.
But kudos for CBS in bringing in a decent aperture scope...!
