Chicago Astronomer Camping & Astronomical Observation Sessions
Many crack members of the Chicago Astronomer crew enjoy camping and heading out to darker skies - combining the two loves in a weekend of great daytime fun and nighttime astronomical observations.
Myself, I am just starting out in this camping thing and most interested in those who have blazed a trail before me. Best sites to set-up a scope, those to avoid - close to the city and those not so close. Stories of past trips to State or National Parks, wondrous sights of the dark lanes of our Milky Way, sites so dark that Venus cast a shadow or encounters with beasts...it's all interesting.
Start your threads, include your maps, trails and special interest sites...and I see many Chicago Astronomer group outings soon.
