Has anybody tried the Hyperstar on CPC (fork mount), with or without a wedge. I am thinking about this set up without the wedge with a dslr. Looking if anybody here has tried it. Especially in light polluted areas.

Depends on the size of the DSLR. Starizona's website says the Hyperstar on a 9.25" scope should be compatible with Nikon and Canon DSLRs. I've never used a Hyperstar, but I would think the smaller the camera you use, the less central obstruction it would create. Thereby, providing better images.

Having never actually used a Hyperstar, I've always wondered how you remove the secondary mirror and install the Hyperstar without completely messing up your scope. The Starizona website says it can be done in seconds AND without messing up the collimation of the secondary mirror. How exactly is the secondary installed that it cold be removed in seconds?

I have never used the Hyperstar system, but the C11 is set-up for one if I ever choose to.

From what I have seen, there is an awful amount of weight on the secondary hole in the corrector plate with the Hyperstar/camera on. I would fear corrector flex/stress breakage.

And I can't see how one replaces the secondary mirror without some sort of collimation.

What they said, plus, I know the Hyperstar is supposed to be a fast system, but if you want deep sky, it might not be fast enough. Without a wedge, your fork mount will have field rotation in longer exposures, right? Not sure how long you could go on an exposure without field rotation. I suppose you could do short exposures, then align and stack?

Hey Peetyg,

I can tell you from the city, sky glow creeps pretty fast into your images.
I was using 120mm at f/5 and 150mm at f/4. Orange glow beyond 30seconds.

Try just taking your DSLR with lens set at f/2 to check your sky conditions before diving into the upgrade.
