I have enjoyed this lecture before, and Br. Guy provides the "behind the scenes" history of Galileo's woes...and not what we were all taught, but more reasons not widely known.

I'm torn here. Chuck Bueter is coming to speak at our Calumet Astronomical Society meeting the same night about... the Venus transit. Even worse, I recommended Chuck when CAS was looking for somebody to talk about the transit. Ideally we would have had him for the May meeting, but this was the only time he was available.

I can probably catch Chuck at some other meeting in the South Bend area, as I know he has some transit related events out there this spring. I've also heard Joe speak well of Br. Guy, and read some other threads when he's spoken at Adler.

Somebody flip a coin, please. Heads, Chuck Bueter and the Venus transit; tails, Br Guy and Galileo. Let me know what side comes up.

Was about to pick up the latest edition, finally spiral bound.
