A telescope is basically a light collecting optic plus a magnifying optic.
So for every telescope, are three magnifying optics enough?
A nice low power eyepiece for wide field, object hunting.
Most likely a 2in, with comfortable pinpoint stars across a good chunk of the view.
A nice high power eyepiece for planets, moon and star testing.
Enough eye relief to prevent your cornea from kissing the lens.
Sharp on-axis views.
And finally?, a medium power "teener" eyepiece to soak in the stellar object.
An eyepiece you wouldn't mind stuck around your socket.
For me,
I am still looking for my low power 2in. I am using a 32mm 1.25in Plossl as standby.
For high power, I like the no nonsense University Optics 1.25in 7mm Orthoscopic.
Clean crisp planetary and lunar views. Lightweight. No darn safety groove.
For my teener, I am using Vixen 17mm 1.25in LVW .
I can comfortably rest my eyeglasses on the rubber eyecup.
Views are flat, contrasty. It frames globs and open clusters nicely.
Now, my problem is I have too many scopes each looking for 3 eps. Yikes!
