Chicago Astronomer Joe's Visit to the Yerkes Observatory

My first and only trip to the Yerkes Observatory in Wisconsin...

With a lovely of mine at the time, we took a trip up north for a conference - with a side bar trip to Yerkes...

Although we were not able to accomplish any observing, it was a thrill for me to look around the historic joint. This was before my notoriety of the Chicago Astronomer....

Unfortunately, the thrill was not shared

But, I think that the Chicago Astronomers should make a field trip and head up there for actual evening of observing...even in one of the smaller dome scopes.

Quite an historic place, with the likes of Hale, Barnard, Hubble, Chandrasekhar (doubt I spelled that correctly), and many more studying the heavens from Lake Geneva's shore. Would be absolutely honored to be included in any observing there... even from the lawn outside.
