I heard this on the radio this morning, and had to check it out. There's not a lot of information on it, but apparently there was a bright, green tinted fireball observed in the Chicago area last night. The only reports of sightings by astronomers came from La Porte, IN, not far from here. No names were mentioned, but I'm curious to know if it's anybody I might have crossed paths with.
I wanted to get a good evening session in last night, had the telescopes ready to go an hour before sunset, but as the last daylight was disappearing, clouds rolled in. I waited to see if Moonrise would beat the clouds, but it wasn't to be. I packed up and went inside for a nap. I totally missed out on this meteor.
