Well, after much searching and scouring the internet classifieds, I have finally found a telescope that I really want and graciously been given the green light from my wife. Of course, I had to pinky swear and sign my name in blood that I would finally get around to listing all my miscellaneous crap on eBay and Craig's List (for real this time) in order to help fund my purchase.
I found a great deal on a very gently used Celestron C8-SGT 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. Here is a link to Celeston's site with more info. It comes on the new advanced Go-To CG5 EQ mount. I don't necessarily care that it has a Go-To mount, but it's a nice benny! I definitely wanted to make sure I got a good, sturdy EQ mount with a tracking drive. The mount comes with a polar scope. Other items included in the sale are three 2" EPs (12mm, 36mm, & 50mm), 2" diaganol, 12VDC power supply, double-soft pack case, and a heated dew shield.
The telescope comes from a single owner who is a retired reverend. In addition to being an avid amateur astronomer, I'm guessing he is also a ham radio enthusiast. His directions to his house include a description of his house having a huge antennae installation.
Here's the catch. I will be going on a road trip to Grand Rapids, MI in order to pick up the scope. I already had plans with my family this weekend, so I will have to wait until next Saturday to go pick it up. The suspense is going to kill me!!!!!
Anyway, I will post more info on my addition later or after I actually pick it up. I have to head out the door now for some much-anticipated family time!!!
