Chicago Astronomer Mini Star Party

The weather is nice, with partly clear skies later on for this evening.

Time for a last minute scheduling for a star party!

We will meet at our usual spot by the Adler parking lot:

...and set up telescopes at 8:00 pm.

I'll bring out the C11

Nothing serious tonight. It will probably be all lunar all the time this evening, as Saturn will sink into the atmospheric muck early on...but we will try. We can try to spot "Ibn Baruta's crater on the Moon.

Nothing going on at either Northerly Island or Soldier's Field tonight, so the area should be clear for parking.

If free or in the area, stop by and say hi.

A quiet session.....

Chicago Astronomer John, his son Michael and I had us a nice quiet session, with mostly lunar observation...with some Jupiter thrown in for good measure.

I forgot to take some pics, but Rich and his friend Commodore, from the Chicago Astronomical Society, stopped by to say hi...and Rich gave me a Laser-cut Bartinov mask out of Foam Board he made and follows the Chicago astronomer's adventures...Very Cool .... ;D

I hope he brings out his 14" SCT and joins us in our sessions soon.

We had nice group of visitors join us, talking astronomy and related topics...

I met a nice woman, Sophia and her sister Angela...and two boys from Arizona on a cross country trip, who stopped by to share the skies...

And from Lithuania, two very nice women who enjoyed the views and discussions...

Nothing serious this session...just some easy views and new friends.
