September 18 the Astronomers Without Borders are conducting International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN), and I think the Chicago Astronomers should join in this global event. I propose a twist to our usual gatherings, though. Instead of everybody meeting at a central location such as the Adler, I think we should stay close to our usual spots, such as Joe at Adler, Patrick at Horner Park, Robb finding a public spot near Elgin, and myself in Valparaiso. Others could do the same. Our group would be a microcosm of the entire worldwide effort, and would allow us to reach as many people as possible. It will be an 11 day old Moon, so even those of us in reasonably dark skies would have to fight the Moonlight for deep sky targets, so why not be part of one of the largest lunar observations ever?

The funny thing when I saw this is that last week I had a similar idea. It has a twist to it, but one of these days, I think it should be done.
