With the exception of the bright moon, it looks like a near perfect night.

Tonight, I am heading over to the what passes for a hill at Horner Park around 8:30 and will set up and stay until I fall asleep or Chicago's Finest request that I vacate the premises. If you happen to be around, please stop by and say Hi.

This evening was less than awesome, made even less so by my failure to make lemonade out of the lemons that were given to me.

Because of the almost full moonrise shortly after sunset, the sky never got darker than a dull grey. Along with dodgy seeing and transparency, of Tuesday night, any DSO viewing was hopeless. That doesn't mean I didn't try! It does mean that I wasted some precious hours screwing around.

I did take a little time trying some new setting to image Saturn and got similarly dodgy results—a blue planet outline or a completely overexposed blue smudge with 2 moon dots. More practice necessary!!

What I should have done is spend time imaging the moon! A much easier target on several levels! But I didn't...

Also not one person stopped to say hi or ask what was up. Mi amigos were not there either. Finally packed it in at midnight when the moon completely took over and I pooped out. Will try again this weekend from Michigan.
