Not 100% if this can go here, Joe can and will move it it need be.

After seeing Joe's Tweet about the moon tonight I ran out with my Cannon Eos Rebel and snapped a few shots. Shot off 10 of the moon and Mars but only one really came out decent enough to show off. I even got one of Orion and one of Cassiopeia before the battery died.

They arent very good, I'm still learning how to use it especially at night. The lens is an EFS 18 - 55mm, I think, thats whats printed on it. It came with the camera and my brother was supposed to send me another lens but I dunno where it is...lol

I hope you enjoy the pictures dipite thier badness. We live and learn every day...lol.

How cool that you are a Twitter subscriber of mine and took the shots of the full Moon event.

It was socked in with clouds for me and Chicago, but I did manage to grab a peek in a very brief break at around 12:30 am. The backyard was bathed in a great silver illumination and looking up, I saw a great Moon and bright Mars in conjunction. I was hoping for clear skies, but it was not to be.

If it does clear up by Saturday afternoon, I plan to go lakeside and catch the 6:00pm Moonrise with camera.

Your images are cool, but it seems that it is not focusing down down enough...just short. Take it off automatic and go to full manual - and see if you can focus it to infinity - the symbol looks like a 8 on it's side. A tungsten color/lighting balance will also darken the skies. Open the f-stop all the way and set the timer.

Yes, i ahve been a follwer of yours for a lil while now. My "name" there is different han here. It's Mahinamama, it means Moon Mother in Hawaiian, you can follow the link in my sig, I have it set to private so I have to "approve" first.

I would have taken more but it was so god aweful cold out friday night. And the battery died. I need to get a new one. I wish my brother had given me a few more "lessons" with it as he's the one who sold it to me. But I have the books now so that might help.

I cant wait until the weather clears and warms up. They sky is so much darker out here even with a few street/court lights out. In just the few months we've been here I've gotten slightly oriented to the skyline and get so giddy when I see or recognize something I havent seen before.
